Hess taps Petrofac to decommission four Central North Sea wells

Petrofac has been awarded a well plugging and abandonment contract with leading independent energy company. Petrofac facilities management has secured a contract to provide engineering. Petrofac’s Engineering & Production Services (EPS) business has been awarded a three-year Operations & Maintenance Support Services. Petrofac’s team working on the Anasuria FPSO is celebrating the asset’s 20th consecutive Gold award. The agreement includes provision of Well Operator and Well Engineering Project Management services. National Petroleum Construction Company (NPCC) conjunction with its joint venture (JV) partner Petrofac. Company has secured an Engineering and Technical Services contract to support team. Petroleum Development Oman’s (PDO) Rabab Harweel Integrated Project (RHIP) has entered the start-up phase with gas production.

The wells were previously shut-in as part of an earlier decommissioning phase. Petrofac inaugurated its construction skills training centre in Hassi Messaoud. TPO honoured them by presenting certificates to the high achievers and the 100 percent attendance holders. Petrofac will be responsible for detailed planning, direct procurement and management of all sub-contracted services. The award builds on existing track record for delivering Well Operator. The fields are located northeast of the Shetl & Islands in the UK sector. The scope of work includes the submission of a FEED package. The 12-month contract, with option to extend, will support activity in the Absheron natural gas field. Petrofac has provided engineering, procurement, construction management and commissioning support services. The centre will provide training for the next generation of Algeria’s oil and gas industry workforce.

The award is testament to the approach to develop flexible commercial frameworks in line with our clients. The team has been recognised with an Order of Distinction in honour of the asset receiving a Gold Award. The contract builds upon Petrofac’s existing relationship with INEOS FPS in the UKCS. The direct current and transmitting it 160 kilometres back to shore into the German national grid. It was granted in celebration of the occupational health and safety management systems.

Petrofac became the first outsourced Well Operator to execute fully integrated Well Operator services in 2016. Petrofac currently designs, constructs and implements asset modifications for clients.
