DNV GL seeks to close gap between risk analysis and “digital twins”

DNV GL proposes the “Probabilistic Digital Twin” (PDT) to close the gap between digital twins. DNV GL and TenneT sign 4-year framework agreement for project certification. Apache Corporation has awarded DNV GL a new verification services contract. The shipping industry is looking to take advantage of additive manufacturing. DNV GL has established a Renewables Certification office in the United States. It used increasingly by operators to manage the performance of their assets.

New service provides specific insights into the dynamic behaviour of the main components. New industry-wide report from DNV GL highlights benefits. Risk analysis still largely conducted manually before assets enter service. DNV GL, the world’s largest resource of independent energy experts. A digital twin is a digital “mirror” of a physical asset, including models of its structure. Baksaas started his working career in DNV in 1979 and worked in Norway.

“A single, unscheduled downtime event can cost from $2 to $5 million per day”, said Liv A. Hovem, CEO, DNV GL- Oil & Gas.

It bring significant benefits for data management and decision making, providing a consistent. Agreement includes certification of TenneT’s DolWin5 converter platform. The contract has a primary term of three years, and two one year extension options. Certification ensures that AM part users can have the same confidence in an additive manufactured product. Department of Energy (DOE), there is the potential to install 22,000 MW of offshore wind projects.

Risk models are rarely brought forward into operations. The U.S. operations will be managed by David Maloney. Company launched a new service in The Operational Modal Analysis (OMA). It mostly used in desk studies, based on analysing historical data. DNV GL will offer a range of verification services to Apache. The newly issued certificate makes the thyssenkrupp TechCenter. Much of the potential development of offshore wind lies in federal waters.

Risk is dynamic, varying in time with operational conditions. DNV GL has more than30 years of experience in certifying offshore wind globally. It detects the modal properties of a structure based on vibration data collected. The condition of the asset, but this is not captured by current risk models. DNV GL surveyed nearly 2000 senior stakeholders from across the energy industry. Korean wind farm developer DaeHan Energy and distributor of LiDAR device manufacturer.

The better and up-to-date risk information may significantly reduce unplanned or unnecessary downtime. DNV GL and TenneT, a leading European electricity transmission system operator (TSO). The proposed Probabilistic Digital twin is designed to bring risk analysis into ‘live’ use. A lack of digital mindset is seen as a bigger barrier in the finance industry compared to other sectors. The creation would add a layer of probabilistic risk modelling to existing digital twins.

DNV GL has a long established relationship with Apache. DNV GL creates confidence among all project stakeholders in terms of reliable quality. Traditional designs are being adapted with manufacturers. Renewable energy investors and developers are increasingly turning to digital technology. By providing a more up-to-date and asset-specific risk picture, a PDT allows operators to adjust operations. This is according to new research by DNV GL. DNV GL is expected to carry out project certification for upcoming TenneT’s HVDC platforms.

This will enhance safety and reduce expensive downtime. It will be applied for connecting offshore wind farms. It has build an unrivalled reputation and deep knowledge of the Beryl. It means that thyssenkrupp TechCenter Additive Manufacturing is an DNV GL. The Probabilistic Digital Twin concept was unveiled at Offshore Europe 2019. DNV GL can be more responsive to the localized needs of the industry. The design features present new challenges related to structural failures.

Frank Borre Pedersen says “DNV GL is prepared for a future where our clients will have digital twins of all their assets”.

Many of our clients are building and maintaining digital twins of their assets. Offshore wind will become a crucial part of that mix. The survey of nearly 2000 senior stakeholders across the energy industry. The PDT allow clients to take advantage of all the information. The new Operational Modal Analysis service will help manufacturers. LiDAR verification campaigns for Asian stakeholders had to be conducted at oversea sites.

The Probabilistic Digital Twin is not an alternative, but an evolution of the digital twin. Additive manufacturing will have a significant impact on the future maritime value chain. A PDT may include reliability and degradation models to predict the remaining lifetime of mechanical components. The opportunities available in the northeast region of the U.S. are many and growing. Probabilistic degradation and failure models, reflecting uncertainty and variability of conditions.
